1. The Clockwork God
Socrates the steampunk ape is back in an all-new series! The Iron Horse is a massive steam-powered locomotive full of ancient and surprising technological wonders. With his crew of warriors, miscreants, and genetic anomalies, Socrates’ mission is to scour the world in search of Starfall, the mysterious element that powers the great city of Sanctuary and most of the world’s steam technology. Supplies of Starfall are running low and unless they can locate another source, all civilization may soon collapse. Starfall also happens to be Socrates’ power source and without it, he will die.
On their first adventure, the crew encounters a bizarre cult of isolationists and their strange “Clockwork God.” Meanwhile, several of the crewmembers have gone missing, and tensions are rising as mutineers conspire to overthrow Socrates and destroy the train. As the conflict comes to a boil, a power more ancient and sinister than anything they have ever imagined threatens to destroy them all.
2. Killing the Machine
The Iron Horse is a massive steam-powered locomotive manned by a crew of warriors, miscreants, and genetic anomalies. Socrates, the train’s commander, is an autonomous steam-powered gorilla with memories and knowledge reaching back more than a thousand years. Their mission is to locate a new source of starfall, the rare element that powers the ancient city of Sanctuary. Their civilization needs starfall, but for Socrates the matter is personal. Without it, he will die.
After a brief respite on the shores of the Forgotten Sea, the crew readies for their next great adventure. This time, the tracks will take them somewhere entirely different. The only way across the great sea is under it. But as the Iron Horse plunges into the icy waters, something goes wrong. The train has been sabotaged, and to make matters worse, their fuel supply has been stolen.
Trapped at the bottom of the sea, faced with the choice between a slow death by suffocation or a fast one in the crushing black waters, Socrates makes a last ditch effort to save the crew. He believes there is a cavern ahead, if they can only make it that far… But even if they survive, the crew may face an even greater peril from a completely unexpected new enemy.
3. The Dragon’s Breath
As the Iron Horse journeys ever deeper into its mysterious post-apocalyptic world, the crew encounters a lone knight on a quest to slay a dragon. They mock him at first, but when they arrive at the fog-shrouded city known as Stormwatch, the streets are abandoned, the doors are locked, and the citizens are terrified to leave their homes. One old woman, alone and seemingly insane, confronts the crew with this ominous warning: "Beware the dragon’s breath!"
They hear the knight’s words echoed in her statement, and begin to realize that things may not be as they appear. Then, as night closes in, strange things begin to happen aboard the Iron Horse. Crew members are attacked by invisible beings and strange, mutated creatures. One by one, they begin to vanish. When it seems things can’t get any worse, they realize their adventure has only just begun… and that maybe, just maybe, dragons really do exist.
4. Clockwork Legion
Events are spiraling out of control inside Dragonwall, as Shayla’s enemies seek to turn the tables on her, and Kale finds his position as the knights’ commander challenged. When the queen asks Kale to report to a nearby village that has been raided, he jumps at the chance to get away from the politics and intrigue. Little does he realize he’s about to uncover a terrifying secret that may change the course of history…
Meanwhile, the Iron Horse makes a surprise stop when Socrates and his team discover a train wreck filled with the mummified remains of an ancient crew. While studying the site, they make another unexpected discovery: The crater beyond Dragonwall is home to a previously unknown civilization; a race of humans living in a city of pyramids and possessing strange, powerful new technologies.
The crew’s excitement is soon tempered by the realization that these timid farmers are not just shy of strangers… they are in fact slaves. Worse yet, their overseers are a race of creatures unlike any the crew have previously encountered. They are dangerous. They are powerful. And they are legion.
5. Starfall
It’s the end of the line for the Iron Horse!
The unthinkable has happened. The Iron Horse is destroyed, the crew disbanded, and war is once again on the horizon. Refugees pour into Astatia and Danaise. Resources are running low.
Kale and Shayla remain in Dragonwall, Kale sworn to wed Queen Aileen and take Dane’s place, while Shayla has survived an attempted murder only to find her life permanently changed. The future hangs in the balance, and everything just may rest on the shoulders of one small halfling named Micah. Is this the end for the crew, once and for all?
Thankfully, Socrates has a plan. All that remains is to discover the Clockwork Legion’s weakness and exploit it. But will Socrates find the right strategy in time? Will he be able to convince the other civilizations to join and defeat this new enemy? Will Breeze and Tinker answer the call one last time, or is it already too late? Only one thing is certain: after this adventure, nothing will be the same.
6. A Dame to Die For
