A Mystic Caravan Mystery Series by Amanda M. Lee (#1 – #6)
Requirements: ePUB/MOBI Reader, 800KB
Overview: When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn’t up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer — although I had no idea the effort that would entail. Not only am I a writer now, but I’m a writer in several different mediums. I’m a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic. (taken from her facebook about page)

#1 – Freaky Days: The show must go on … even when monsters are afoot. Poet Parker is Romani by birth and a fortune teller by choice. As a member of Mystic Caravan Circus, she’s spent the past ten years using her psychic talents to tell people what their future holds by day and hunting paranormal monsters by night. You see, Mystic Caravan is more than just a circus – it’s also a force of good in a world that needs help fighting evil. Poet is set in her ways – and happy with her life – until Kade Denton shows up and upends the entire operation. He’s loud and proud – and Poet doesn’t like anyone telling her what to do. As the new head of security, Kade thinks his only job is going to be tackling drunken revelers when they get out of hand. He’s in for a rude – and bloody – awakening. When monsters strike and the truth comes out, Kade finds he has to learn on the job with Poet as his somewhat reluctant instructor. Sparks are flying – both real and figurative – and when a truly terrible beast targets the circus for extermination it’s all magical hands on deck for the final showdown. Some things are born evil, but the people in Mystic Caravan were born to fight it. Prepare to be amazed.
#2 – Freaky Lies: The Mystic Caravan Circus is a place of magic and mayhem. Unfortunately for Poet Parker these days, it’s also packed full of lies. It’s been more than a week since she found out an unsightly secret: Her boss Max is her boyfriend’s father. Despite giving Max an ultimatum, he’s yet to tell Kade Denton the truth, and that’s left Parker in a sticky situation. When the circus goes to Nebraska, Poet can’t dwell on her personal problems for long because a body is found in a nearby field and it’s missing arms, legs and eyes. Everyone agrees there’s something off about the death – other than the obvious, that is – but no one can figure out what kind of force the folks of Mystic Caravan are facing off with next. Between the emotional distress, her best friend Luke threatening to release embarrassing photographs, and a local police presence that is suspicious, Poet has her hands full. That’s on top of a new clown that makes everyone suspect he’s up to no good … even as he leaves the female population salivating. The clues come together slowly, and when the end comes, the enemy is someone no one saw coming. What happens when the face of evil looks like a victim? And, more importantly, what happens when all of the lies are eradicated and Poet is stripped bare and forced to tell the truth? It’s another fun-filled outing for the Mystic Caravan Circus – as long as everyone survives to see another day, that is
#3 – Freaky Hearts – Poet Parker his having a rough time of it … and then some. She owes her boss Max Anderson everything for saving her from a life on the streets, but Mystic Caravan’s favorite psychic is struggling because that loyalty caused her to lose a shot at true love. When the circus hits Brigham City, the nature lovers in the troupe are looking forward to visiting the Great Salt Lake while Poet can’t shake the feeling that someone … or rather some dark thing … is watching her. Her discomfort doesn’t ease back at the circus, where Kade Denton is busy pretending she doesn’t exist while he grapples with the truth about his parentage. When a local boy goes missing, the police show up at the circus and announce that everyone is a suspect. The suspicion only grows when the missing boy turns up alive in an adjacent field. Even after returning him to his parents, the police refuse to back down and Poet finds the walls closing in. Between a shady cabin in the woods, local legends about saltwater monsters and angry ghosts that may be waging war on outsiders, and Kade’s inability to stay away even though his anger still festers, Poet has her hands full. As always, though, the show must go on. The circus runs like a well-oiled machine … until trouble comes calling. Poet finds it’s difficult to straddle the line between magical demands and emotional reality and when the enemy becomes clear she finds she might be the ultimate target. Can Mystic Caravan’s band of merry mischief makers hold it together long enough to take down another foe? Only time will tell whether Poet’s happy ending is within her reach … or if death with find her first.
#4 – Freaky Games – Mystic Caravan Circus is heading to the West Coast, and while everyone is happy for the change of scenery there’s a pall settling over the group. Poet and Kade are in a good place and planning for a change, but it’s something Poet can’t focus on because she feels as if someone is watching … and whoever it is has evil in his or her heart. The festival location is different, and instead of space, the circus denizens have festival workers and artisans on every side. They’re open and exposed, and hiding their secret has never been more important. When one of their own goes missing, Poet is determined to figure out exactly what’s going on. The answers won’t be easy, though, and there are all different types of evil. A fight is coming, and the enemy is different from anything they’ve ever faced. They’re outnumbered and might find themselves outmaneuvered. Who will survive? More importantly, who will be lost to something even worse than death? Sometimes death really is better.
#5 – Freaky Places – Mystic Caravan Circus is heading to the West Coast, and while everyone is happy for the change of scenery there’s a pall settling over the group. Poet and Kade are in a good place and planning for a change, but it’s something Poet can’t focus on because she feels as if someone is watching … and whoever it is has evil in his or her heart. #6 – Freaky Rites – Northern California beckons the Mystic Caravan crew and they’re looking forward to some down time after their previous stop. Emotions are running high and the workers are desperate to return to their normal lives. Poet Parker and Kade Denton, for instance, have a new camper to move into and they’re both excited at the prospect of an adventure that has nothing to do with monsters. All that changes on their first night in a new camp when wendigo howls fill the air and trouble comes knocking at their metaphorical door. One wendigo is nothing to worry about but when ghosts start calling every night, only maintaining a distance because of the dreamcatcher, things take a turn for the worse. That’s when the ghosts start invading Poet’s dreams, leaving her on the precipice of death without outside intervention. All roads lead to a place called Falk, a forgotten logging town that died during the Great Depression. It seems the town is long gone but a bevy of ghosts remain, as does a secret so terrible that the entire foundation of the Mystic Caravan world is about to be rocked. A fight is coming, and both sides are readying for battle. For Poet, things aren’t as easy as they seem, though. What happens when the monster you think you’re fighting isn’t a monster at all and the so-called victims are the ones who need to be taken down?
