Murder at the Art Gallery #1: Mandy Cummings’ life had reached a turning point. She had a new temp job that showed great possibilities of turning into a permanent job. Her friend Jill had talked her into finally getting a new cat. And what a beautiful cat it turned out to be. After a long hiatus, life was finally going along just great again. Then she learns of a tragedy.
David Towsky, her friend and local artist, has committed suicide. At least, that’s what the police say. However, Mandy doesn’t believe that this is what happened. She knows that David would never commit suicide. No matter how she tries, nobody wants to take Mandy’s idea seriously, that David came to an untimely end due to foul play. Plain and simple, David didn’t die of suicide, somebody killed him.
It’s up to Mandy to try to figure out the mystery of why somebody felt they needed to kill David, and to find out who did it. As she goes through her personal investigation, she learns a lot of things she wished she never knew. She really didn’t want the job of a woman sleuth. There is such a thing as too much information, and it’s the kind of thing that may get Mandy killed.
With the help of her best friend Jill, and the company of her recently acquired cat, Roger, who’s really a recently reincarnated New York City detective, Mandy sets out to find David’s killer. Will she discover who the killer is or will she discover that mystery investigations can be murder on people, including her?
Mystery at the Pet Food Corp #2: After Roger, Mandy’s cat, took down Mandy’s would-be murderer in the last book, he became an internet sensation. So much so, that pet food companies wanted him to promote their products. However, although some people have good plans for Roger, others have plans that are less than wholesome.
Mandy is all excited at the prospect of doing a commercial with Roger. Stacy Parks, CEO of Hedon Pet Nutrition, became very fond of Roger after watching his video. She wants him to be in a cat food commercial for her company product. However, not everything goes according to plan. Stacy Parks all of a sudden becomes less than available. How could this have happened? Does her husband, Thomas Parks have anything to do with it? And why is he so against working with Roger?
Worse still, somebody wants Roger out of the way, and will do whatever it takes to take him from Mandy. All Mandy wanted to do was to make a little extra money and give Roger the exposure that he deserved. So many people loved him after his heroic deeds. However, fame can be murder.
Murder at the Pet Spa #3: Mandy was finally financially stable for the first time in a long time. Thanks to the reward she received from the insurance company for discovering massive insurance fraud being perpetrated by the villains in the last book, she was set for a while.
However, in spite of the large sum, the amount of money she received and split with Jill, her friend, was not going to last her whole life. She tried to think of a business venture that she and Jill could go into that would allow their money to make more money. Why not open up a pet spa, they thought? However, they also realized that they knew nothing about pet spas and business in general.
In the course of their explorations, a terrible murder is committed. One of Mandy’s old high school friends, who had turned her life around completely, is murdered right under Mandy’s nose. Nevertheless, Mandy decides that she’s had enough murders in her life, and she’s not going to investigate this. Try as she might to ignore things, the murder, and a second mystery, keep pulling Mandy in. ‘Why do people keep dying around me?’ Mandy asks. The reluctant female sleuth.
