Overview: The Dwarves of Tridas are shocked to discover they are suddenly alone in the whole world. After searching far and wide, they can find no trace of the Humans, the Elves or the sky-dwelling Griftins. Content in their findings they waste no time leaving the confines of their great mountain and spread throughout the planet, building great cites to form the mighty Dwarven Empire.
Fifty-thousand years of uninterrupted seclusion has brought the Empire to the height of technological power. But crime and corruption have become widespread in many of the cities. When a grievous murder is committed, the Dwarven Empress decrees a new prison built away from civilisation and the land that they all hold dear.
Torbin, a gifted Scholar, develops new technology allowing such a prison to be built in the deadly frozen Wastes and is tasked with overseeing its construction by the command of the Empire. When crafting the new Void Prison, Torbin happens upon a mysterious hidden chamber deep underneath the ice and sets loose something he cannot believe is real. A Griftin.
Torbin and his allies must learn all they can about the long lost creature and what its return to the world will mean for the Dwarves. Others outside of the control of the Monarchy seek information as to how this discovery might be used to topple the governing power that has ruled the world for centuries with blasphemy that would condemn them all.
But the Griftin has plans of its own. Torbin must discover what they are while keeping his loved ones safe and the rest of the world at bay, as his findings and decisions will change the world forever.
