Girls’ Night Out (1987)
A satire on sex, surf and shenanigans in Australia. In a series of conversations, the lifestyle of the modern Aussie woman is revealed, as they discuss the man shortage, Aussie footballers, the married man syndrome and have-it-all feminists.
The Llama Parlour (1991)
When Kat Kennedy lands a part in the cult Hollywood sitcom "Dinks", she leaves her native Australia and finds herself plunged into a wild and raunchy American party. Can she stand up to bitchy superstar Rondah Rivers and win the affections of the delectable Pierce Scanlan, despite his drug habit?
Foetal Attraction (1993)
Aussie Madeline Wolfe has given up her life, her home, her hemisphere to come to London to live with the new, British, man in her life. She soon discovers that being an Australian is currently passe. And then she discovers that she is pregnant.
Altar Ego (1998)
Altar Ego burned up bestseller lists in Britain and Australia–now American readers have a chance to fall in love with Kathy Lette’s larger-than-life characters. Becky Steele is a self-proclaimed "new feminist" and holder of the Girls’ Night Out record for the shortest amount of time between meeting someone and shagging him (nine minutes). But she has a query. Would it be a serious breach of etiquette to run out on her own wedding? Yes, the man in question is the right one. But has she had enough wrong ones? To make sure, she embarks on a jock-strap-twanging affair with a much younger rock star. (If only she didn’t have to back out of the room so he can’t see the backs of her thighs…) Sex, lies, and relationship angst play out to hilarious consequences in this absolutely fabulous novel.
To Love, Honour and Betray (2008)
Lucy’s been married for so long, her wedding certificate should be in hieroglyphics. When Jasper walks out after eighteen years, she panics. What will she do about vehicle maintenance, shifting heavy objects and Allen keys? Not to mention her rebellious teenage daughter Tally, who blames Lucy for the marital meltdown. Low self-esteem is hereditary: you get it from your kids. While Tally’s busy trying to find a loophole in her birth certificate so she can put herself up for adoption, Lucy strives to accept that a child is for life and not just for Christmas. Could teenagers be God’s punishment for having sex in the first place?
This is a book about what to do when you fall in love. (Wipe it off your shoes before you walk it all over the carpet.) But above all it’s a survival guide for anyone who has realized that the perfect marriage is like an orgasm – many of them are faked
Men – A User’s Guide (2010)
Kathy Lette – otherwise known as the Queen of the Quip – has put together a collection of her funniest and most outrageous observations. Here are a few examples. No wife ever shot a husband while he was vacuuming. All husbands think they’re Gods. If only their wives weren’t atheists. Till Homicide Do Us Part. Boys will be boys and so will a lot of middle-aged blokes who should know better. Why do men like intelligent women? Because opposites attract. Statistically, 100 percent of divorces begin with marriage. If He wants breakfast in bed, tell him to sleep in the kitchen. I couldn’t ask for a better husband as much as I’d bloody well like to.
Love Is Blind (2013)
When Jane decides to move to the Australian outback in search of a husband, her sister Anthea thinks she’s mad. But then again, the sisters have never seen eye-to-eye. Anthea is slim, beautiful and has a perfect life and fiance. Jane has always felt like the ugly duckling in comparison.
But when Anthea follows her sister Down Under to try and save Jane from this latest crazy plan, she ends up taking a walk on the wild side herself…
Till Death, or a Little Light Maiming, Do Us Part (2022)
Hearing a news report that a man on his morning swim has been taken by a Great White, teacher Gwen races to the beach, and finds all that remains of Jason Riley, her husband, is his swimming cap and a piece of torn, blood-stained wetsuit.
Her shock and heartbreak are soon interrupted by a woman screeching to a halt on a motorbike. Tish screams for information, convinced it’s her husband who’s been taken by the man-eater. Gwen reassures her that Jason Riley is the man who’s perished. ‘I know! Jason Riley’s my husband!’ Tish sobs.
Needless to say, their grief is somewhat blighted by the realisation they’ve both been married to a bigamist. And their mutual animosity is not assuaged when they learn that Jason recently sent all his – make that their – money to a mysterious ‘business partner’ in Egypt, Skye.
They fly to Cairo, confront Skye, and discover that not only did Jason marry her last year, but he’s stolen her life savings too.
Till Death, or a Little Light Maiming, Do Us Part is a revenge caper that propels our double-crossed threesome through continents on the trail of truth and retribution. As they embark on a chase for their money, they build new friendships, discover much about themselves, and when closure is had they are bursting with energy for the next phase of their life.
