Overview: I have always been a bookworm.
In 2018 I discovered Fan Fiction and stumbled onto Pride & Prejudice. I loved many of the stories, but often wished the characters would behave differently. I kept thinking about Elizabeth’s reaction at the assembly, wondering how I would like her to respond. I jotted down bits of conversations and ‘Don’t flatter yourself’ was born. Encouraged by the other readers I decided to publish my story. It turned out that other people liked it too.
I had so much fun writing Don’t flatter yourself, and receiving the positive responses, that I continued writing other stories.
Genre: Fiction > Romance Fiction > Regency; Adaptations & Pastiche
A P&P Christmas Carol: A spirited romp through P&P
Come along on this spirited romp through P&P where the author shines a new light on the character of the various characters.
Three spirits, Mrs Prudence Bennet, Lady Anne Darcy, and Sir Lewis de Bourgh are sent to all the major and some of the minor characters of Pride and Prejudice.
They are to point out the characters’ flaws by showing them their past and present, as well as their potential future if they do not remedy those flaws.
Once Darcy and Elizabeth, and all her family, as well as sundry others have had a chance to come to terms with what they have been shown, how will it affect their behaviour afterwards?
Who will change and who will ignore the warnings?
What will be the consequences of any potential changes?
Who will have a HEA due to the intervention of the spirits?
Three of the potential futures contain references to either rape, violence, or death which, although not explicit or graphic, may cause distress to some readers.
Rising from the Ashes: A Regency Romance about second chances and changing fate, inspired by P&P
When Elizabeth Bennet was only 17, she was forced to marry William Collins, who took her to Hunsford.
After a disastrous year of marriage Elizabeth finds herself both widowed and master of Longbourn.
When Bingley brings his party to Netherfield, Darcy and Elizabeth meet as equals because of having previously met at Rosings Park.
Darcy falls in love with Elizabeth only to discover that she is reluctant to marry again.
To what lengths must Darcy go to win the trust of this remarkable young lady?
Can Elizabeth overcome her past to allow her to follow her heart which draws her to Darcy?
Watch as she rises from the ashes like a phoenix and rebuilds both her life and the fortunes of Longbourn.
The first chapter contains scenes of domestic violence. I recommend that you use the ‘Look inside’ function to determine whether this book is for you.
Don’t flatter yourself: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
In the original P&P Mr Darcy had an issue with the behaviour of Mrs Bennet and Elizabeth’s younger sisters.
What if Mr Bennet married a second time and his new wife is a lady with impeccable manners, who is down-playing the fact that she really is a Lady.
Will the improved manners of all the ladies make a difference to Mr Darcy?
Or is the Bennets’ perceived social standing and lack of wealth still an issue for him?
Will Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet have a happily ever after?
Mr Bennet leaves his study: A Regency Romance based on P&P
What might happen if a year before Netherfield was let, Mr Bennet had an epiphany and started to take an interest in his family.
Could he have curbed the excesses of his wife and younger daughters?
What impressions would the Bennet family have made on the inhabitants of Netherfield Park?
Would it have made a difference to the interactions between his family and the visitors from London and more importantly, Derbyshire?
Find out in this gentle story about a family finding a new path to happiness, as the ripples of Mr Bennet’s change spread to the rest of his family.
