What if Lady Catherine had misled Darcy about her confrontation with Elizabeth Bennet?
Hearing a startling rumour, Lady Catherine de Bourgh travels to Longbourn to be assured that Elizabeth Bennet is not to marry her nephew, Fitzwilliam Darcy, and to obtain a promise that she will never enter into an engagement with him. When Elizabeth refuses to make such a promise, Lady Catherine travels to London to demand it from her nephew instead, leading Darcy to believe Elizabeth swore she would never marry him.
Believing the other does not care for them, Elizabeth and Darcy are resolved to conquer their feelings for one another. Before they can part ways forever, all that remains for them to do is reunite Darcy’s friend Bingley with Elizabeth’s sister, Jane after Darcy separated them the year before. But when Bingley declares he no longer deserves Jane, and Jane decides she could never marry a man who could leave her no matter how much she still cares for him, Darcy and Elizabeth are forced to put their own feelings to one side and work together to reunite their friends.
But as they grow closer, it soon becomes clear that their feelings are not so easily put aside, not even when all hope seems lost. Or when Darcy makes a decision that might separate them forever.
