Something doesn’t want the inhabitants of an isolated mountain town to leave.
When local hermit Maul Thorndean disappears, Sheriff Joe Moorefield finds his cabin in a bewildering state. All of the surrounding trees have turned white and brittle and are leaning towards the cabin. There is blood on the floor but no sign of Maul.
The dying of the trees spreads and soon the townspeople are encircled by ash grey trees with limbs that wont allow them to leave. That’s when the people begin to disappear.
As Sheriff Joe Moorefield tries to figure out what is going on, while at the same time trying to keep his people sane, it becomes increasingly clear that the trees are the least of his worries.
Gossamer Falls

Lawrence Karrier is the first to see the beauty while out on his morning run. A solitary thin cloud drifting down from the mountains and settling into the lake, like nothing he has ever seen before. Later in the day as the local factory empties and the bar fills up, the spectacle of a hundred such clouds against the evening sky beguiles the whole town.

After a night of horror, the people of Gossamer Falls have to pick up the pieces and try to move on. What will they do with the now rock hard cloud formations strewn all over the place? And what of the white liquid that seems to rush around inside each one? Tourist season is almost upon them and without the dollars that brings the town is doomed. When townspeople start acting very strange, things begin to get very much worse for everyone.

As the world recovers from a devastating Solar Flare, society is just getting back on track when a strange phenomena begins. Voilent dreams are coming true all over the world. Those featured in the dreams are killed in real life showing terrible injuries like those in the dreams. No one is safe, because no one can control their dreams.
The more worried people become, the more likely they are to have bad thoughts at night. It’s only a matter of time before you kill someone. At least that was how it was until everyone started wearing masks and disguises and people began to forget the faces of everyone they ever knew.
In this new world, the re-emerging internet is filled with rumour and fear. Howell Warren hates living behind a mask. His new love, Catherine — many cities away — feels the same. Their one hope of a ‘normal’ life is to travel over dangerous, still mostly lawless terrain to make it to the city of Asitwas, a place where everyone lives as before and the only time people wear masks is at Halloween.
Can they manage to meet and cross hostile terrain to make their dreams come true. Or will the lawless world or the Sleeping Sickness get to them first?
