Overview: J. R. Trtek, a renown Slovak hockey player and a distant relative of the Hungarian celebrity Csodálatos Gyűjtemény was brought up on the culture and traditions of the East Slovakian mountains. His school education was scarce and sporadic, yet he sponged a very rich tradition of the Slovak and Ukrainian folk fairy tales that were told by the elders of his native hamlet at the long Winter nights. But he started to read early in his life and after finishing his reading of a local edition of the Tales of Brothers Grimm he immediately turned his attention to the oeuvres of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The Hapsburg Falcon (2013)
No detective is as famous as Sherlock Holmes, and perhaps no object of mystery is as shrouded in legend as the Maltese Falcon. These two iconic figures cross paths in this recently discovered manuscript from the pen of Dr. John H. Watson recounting Holmes’ encounter with the fabulous statue.
The affair involves not only Holmes’ former adversary Irene Adler, but also a certain rotund gentleman who may have been the nemesis of private eye Sam Spade in The Maltese Falcon. Paralleling in some ways the fictionalized version of Spade’s adventure with the statue, The Hapsburg Falcon casts refreshing glimpses on the great detective and those around him, as well as perhaps helping to uncover his real-life connection with Spade.
Among the many apocryphal Holmes adventures, this may be one of the most revealing.
Thirty-Nine Steps from Baker Street (2015)
A century after the fact, Sherlock Holmes’ service in the First World War is finally documented in this revealing memoir by Dr. John H. Watson, the detective’s famed biographer.
Until now, only a fragmentary glimpse of this period in Holmes’ life has been available to readers through the short story “His Last Bow.” Thirty-Nine Steps from Baker Street tells the rest of that heroic saga: not only Holmes’ cat-and-mouse game with the German spymaster Von Bork but also his role in the rescue of Richard Hannay, hero of the classic novel The Thirty-Nine Steps, as well as the detective’s uncovering of enemy agents planted in the peaceful English countryside and his herculean effort to foil the plans of a mysterious foreign cabal whose target was London itself.
Illuminating the relationship of Holmes and Watson in their later years, Thirty-Nine Steps from Baker Street allows the public to share at last in this final great adventure of their partnership, the capstone of Holmes’ magnificent career.
