Murder Can’t Stop (1946)
A damage suit against his studio he was supposed to settle, and a drunken actor-friend he wanted to wean from the habit, did little for Bill Lennox’s peace of mind, nor did they contribute to the enjoyment of his vacation. But what definitely spoiled his holiday was—murder.
It couldn’t have been a friend of his who dropped a body on his bed, the corpse of the very man who had instituted that $4,000,000 action. Then, the man’s brother disappeared and three more men died…
Chance Elson (1958)
“Don’t move, Cellini, I’m taking you for a ride.”
Elson’s words meant only one thing to the gangster and he started to shake.
“Don’t kill me, Chance. I’ll fix it with Danzig so you can handle the wire service in Vegas. I’m the only one the big boss listens to.”
Chance broke Cellini’s nose with the gun. Then he pulled him out of the car and began beating him. Without his hoods behind him, Cellini was a blubbering wreck.
“I should kill you, Cellini. But I want you to remember this night. I want your face to be a reminder to every Syndicate gangster that it’s going to be dangerous to take over Las Vegas.”
