Overview: Born and raised in Fanwood, New Jersey, Paula Volsky majored in English literature at Vassar, then traveled to England to complete an M.A. in Shakespearean studies at the University of Birmingham. Upon her return to the United States, she sold real estate in New Jersey, then began working for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C. During this time she finished her first book, The Curse of the Witch Queen, a fairy tale for children that developed into a fairy tale for adults. Shortly thereafter she abandoned HUD in favor of full-time writing. These days she is back in New Jersey, camping in condo with cat and computer.
