Overview: My name is Ed Bowie — and I write adventures.
I’m not wedded to any particular genre, but where I can, I’ve written stories in groups…
The Arctic Trilogy books (VINTERKRIG / SOMMERKRIG / PITERAQ) are all out-and-out action adventures. They’ve been described as Alistair Maclean stories for the digital age — which I’m pretty OK with.
Genre: Fiction > Mystery/Thriller
TOTALITY
Haunted by the sudden death of her mother and father, lone reporter Michele Dukes restlessly roams the globe, seeking out the most dangerous stories in the world’s most troubled locations.
In Afghanistan she uncovers evidence that an American arms conglomerate ASENATH is selling weapons of hideous cruelty to both sides in the country’s civil war.
She returns to Washington determined to expose the heads of ASENATH and bring them to justice. But, confronted by a conspiracy of silence and secrecy, Michele is sucked into a nightmare in which everyone close to her — anyone who tries to help her — is murdered in bizarre and inexplicable circumstances. She knows the only way to make the nightmare stop would be to give up on her investigation — but equally she knows that is something she could never do.
Michele’s story intertwines with mysteries stretching back in time, from Imperial Russia on the threshold of the First World War all the way back to a desolate, sand-buried temple at Abu Simbel in the last days of the Egyptian New Kingdom, tracing genuine total eclipses and real historical mysteries, each one revealing another piece in the story, another clue to the true nature of ASENATH — and the fate which awaits Michele as the Great Eclipse draws near.
"I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book and wondered how the threads would be drawn together. I loved the way that the layers of the story built up but the end was still a surprise. Believable characters, great plot, well written, an excellent read."
Carnival of Hate
The story rises like a phoenix from the brutal chaos of war"
June 1944: a deadly secret lurks beneath the Vatican — a dread disease stalks the corridors of the holy city.
Priest-turned-soldier Guy Wolfe is sent to investigate a maverick general who has disobeyed a direct order and sent his army in a desperate dash to liberate Rome. Then, as the people of Rome were rejoicing in the streets, his army sealed the city — even their allies were kept out.
On his journey to Rome, Guy is confronted by all the tragic flotsam and jetsam of war — marauding bands of leaderless soldiers wreaking havoc on the countryside, centuries-old towns and villages half-ruined by the fighting.
Avoiding the American road-blocks he enters the city after midnight — and the first person he encounters is a childhood friend who has inexplicably changed his identity.
Saving a woman from an attempted suicide plunges his mission into chaos as he is blackmailed by the inscrutable dwarf Lazarus into investigating a far darker mystery
