1. Cliff’s Edge
Daniel Everett had just ended a bad relationship and was ready to re-introduce himself to the singles scene in a spectacular fashion. When he discovers that his Ex made expensive reservations at a romantic resort in Utah’s famed Zion National Park, he’s unable to find a reason not to go. The dream of having hot, sex filled nights with handsome cowboys is ruined, though, when he finds that the ranch is under construction, his cabin is being renovated, and there are only two hot cowboys on the premises. One is a foul-mouthed sleaze and the other wants a long romance and a committed relationship. While the lure of no-strings-attached sex with handsome Stanford might make Daniel forget his own standards, he finds that Cliff playing hard to get has its own attraction. When Cliff convinces Daniel to take a ride into the park and explore places where most tourists never venture, Daniel finds his attraction to Cliff growing into something more than lust. When their horses are spooked and bolt, and they find themselves returning to the ranch on foot, Daniel tries to convince Cliff to forget about his need for a committed relationship. As they give in to their passions, though, and Daniel is overwhelmed by his feelings for Cliff, Daniel begins to wonder who is convincing whom.
2. The Price of Art
Dale Delmonico is a maintenance man for a museum. Even though he’s a large, powerful person, he’s shy, loves romance books, and the art he passes every day as he cleans the museum. There is one painting Dale loves the most. The beautiful landscape of the Himalayas speaks to him in a way he can’t describe. Each day, he makes the painting the last thing he sees. When he meets the artist, the handsome and exotic Paxton Belanger, he experiences that same connection. The man and the painting both touch his soul. Dale has an inferiority complex, though, that makes it hard expressing that sentiment. When Paxton, intrigued by Dale’s love of the least and most unassuming of his painting, invites him to dinner, Dale sees a chance to deepen his connection with Paxton further. There is a time limit, though. Paxton is leaving the country the next morning. Can Dale overcome his shyness and convince Paxton that he’s more than he seems in one night? Hot and exotic short story.
