Overview: Adeline Radloff enjoyed a misspent youth, working and travelling through more than 25 different countries. Somewhere along the line she picked up a law degree as well as an MA in English Literature, and has worked as a cinema operative, a beauty consultant, a legal aid assistant, a waiter, a perfume salesperson, a bartender, a freelance journalist, a breakfast chef, a candidate attorney, a language specialist, a housewife, a barista, an EFL teacher, and an academic development tutor.
It was with some relief that she finally settled into the roles of mother, teacher and writer.
In 2009 she won the Sanlam Prize for Youth Literature for her debut novel, Sidekick. In 2012 her next novel, Een Stad, Drie Rooikoppe, Sewe Dae, which she wrote together with her sister, Lili Radloff.
She lives in Cape Town with her husband and daughters.

Chain Reaction
Chain Reaction tells of the experiences of bully Stephanie Adolphus, the beautiful Krystle Thomas whose home life holds a shameful secret in her mother’s addictive behaviour, Lisakhanya, a girl from the township attending the school on a scholarship, Krystle’s sister who is trying to make any sense of her life and the changes her sister is going through, Dillan, Stephanie’s bullied little brother, and Ben who lives with his overbearing abusive stepfather and terrified mother. Each chapter is told from a different character’s point of view. In the end, one character’s decision to do something differently, impacts on all the character’s lives. Essentially it’s a book that deals with the issues of bullying, the notion that true beauty is a blessing not a curse, the complexities of young love, and fear of abuse.
Sidekick
Katie Holmes, aged 17, lives with her adoptive mother, the housekeeper of a fabulous house in Camps Bay belonging to the gorgeous hunk Finn O’Reilly. Finn has the ability to stop time, to move into what is called “untime”. Katie can’t stop time but, uniquely, can function in “untime” and works as a partner, a sidekick, to Finn.
