Overview: I’ve been an avid reader all my life, starting out with Laura Ingalls and Anne of Green Gables, moving on via Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters to fantasy. Books are my friends, I re-read my favourites often, appreciating the language and especially the emotion it can convey. I’m Dutch and live in The Netherlands, but the English language has always played an important role in my reading, and also in the series I watch.
My writing is characterised by a fantasy theme, with creatures and action suitable to the genre, but also trying to incorporate the use of language and the description of human emotions and relations that characterise romantic literature. Read human here as not excluding non-humans, and because people (in the broadest sense of the term) make love, I describe that too in some detail, hopefully staying within the boundaries of good taste, though not shying away from inter-species relationships.

Mansfield Park The Crawfords’ redemption: An improved end to the classic story
I always liked Mansfield Park, but somehow felt Mary and Henry Crawford were treated unfairly by Jane Austen because they were not stuffy and boring and dependable, like Edmund and Fanny herself, but witty and passionate and likable. I always felt they would not react in the way they did in the book, but rise to the challenge. So here’s what they’d do in my view.
Deliverance: an adaptation of Jane Eyre
This is one of those ‘what if’ adaptations. I’ve always wondered why Mr Rochester had to be broken so thoroughly before he could be happy with Jane Eyre. What if she had not been able to get away, what if he had been waiting by her door a second time, pleading her to stay? Would she indeed have lost herself and been made his mistress?
The story starts at the end of chapter 27, when Jane has gathered her meagre personal belongings in a parcel, tied on her straw bonnet, pinned on her shawl and steals away from her room.
Please note that this is a short story of six chapters, not a full-length novel.
