The Magic Below Paris series by C. M. Simpson, Michael Anderle (#2-4,6-8)

Overview: C. M. Simpson; Born in Far North Queensland, I ended up being dragged over most of the state before the age of ten–and then into the Northern Territory and back, so that I attended four different primary schools and two high schools by graduation. In a country that inspires the imagination, and in towns that made me dream of worlds beyond my own, I started writing early, and reading voraciously.
Michael Anderle (ok, weird talking about myself in the 3rd person) (1967-Hopefully a long time from NOW) was born in Houston, Tx. A very curious child, he got into trouble – a lot. What to do with an inquisitive mind when he was grounded? Read! Ok, done with all of that 3rd person stuff. In the first 20 years, I mostly read Science Fiction and Fantasy. In the last 10 years I have enjoyed Urban Fantasy and Military Fiction. With this background, I’ve been blessed with creating The Kurtherian Gambit series, a well-selling, and fan loved, collection of stories. The fans have propelled these stories beyond my wildest imagination and they should get all of the credit for sharing with friends, family and occasionally the random person on the street. They are fantastic!
Genre: Fiction > Sci-Fi/Fantasy
2. Trading into Darkness
A face from the past, an attempted theft, and a death threat: Just what every girl needs to make a bad day better.
Everyone has the ability to do magic, but not everyone can… Marsh knows the saying well. What she doesn’t expect is that there are some forms of magic she just can’t master.
With the fate of the Four Caverns hanging in the balance, and raiders closing on the monastery, Marsh thinks the last thing she needs is to discover she can’t re-light the trail glows.
In fact, the last thing she needs is a violent visitor from the past and the promise that her refuge will fall.
Haunted by the warning, she and the shadow mages must clear the trade route to Ruins Hall and establish a fighting force to protect the Four Caverns, a task easier said than done. Can she make it through the tunnels alive and discover what links her failed delivery to the raiders?
One courier, one kat, two kids and a shadow mage not so alone in the dark.
3. Trading Close To Light
In Marsh’s world the monsters are real and shadows can be used as weapons.
Anyone can call the magic, but the magic they can wield is never guaranteed. Some call shadows, and some shape the stone and earth around them, while others heal or walk through minds.
Marsh can bring the lightning, draw poison from wounds and become one with the dark, but the idea of seeing her uncle and cousins, again, leaves her cold. They’re the only family she has, and they don’t even know she survived.
The trade route between Ruins Hall and Kerrenin’s Ledge is crawling with raiders and shadow monsters, but dealing with them seems a cakewalk in comparison, and seeing her family, again, isn’t the only challenge that lies ahead.
Together with Roeglin and the kat, Marsh must help Kerrenin’s Ledge develop a force to protect itself and the trade routes around it, and its Council has a small favor to ask. Can Marsh survive a family reunion, chase down a traitorous boss, and have another township join their fight against the raiders?
4. Trading By Firelight
The monsters are everywhere, but Marsh only wants one—and he has a three-week headstart.
Kearick, Marsh’s former boss, is in league with the raiders, and he’s fled to another of the Four Caverns. With Roeglin, Gustav and her usual team of troublemakers, Marsh pursues him from Kerrenin’s Ledge to a waystation on the edge of the Devastation that used to be Paris… only to find he’s already gone.
Before they can chase him further, the team must save the waystation, discover the fate of an overdue caravan, and survive the tunnels leading to Dimanche. Can the team survive the dangers of the surface world and an increasingly neglected trade tunnel to reach the settlement, before Kearick sells it out to the raiders?
6. Trading Into Daylight
One of their own has been taken. Two have gone ahead in pursuit. Can Marsh and Roeglin catch them before they are lost as well? A team member taken. Two stubborn children in hot pursuit. And promises to keep.
Finally released from their obligations to the Grotto, Marsh and Roeglin go hunting the raiders who took Gustav…and try to catch up with Tamlin and Aisha who went after them on their own. Can they catch up to the kids before they fall afoul of the raiders as well? And what awaits them in the land above the caverns?
7. Trading By Stormlight

8. Trading to the Deeps
Home again, but with one more mystery to unravel. Who – or What – lies ‘Below’ the Library? And when will they return?
With trade goods going missing, and a need to build closer ties between the Library and the mantids, Marsh and Roeglin look to have their work cut out.
They must also find ways to train Tamlin and Aisha as one discovers how to step between spaces, no shadows required, and the other learns that lightning exists in more than just the dark…and then there is winter…and the threat haunting Marsh’s nightmares and eyeing the Devastation for conquest.
