Playing Along by Stuart Clay
Requirements: ePUB reader, 155 kb
Overview: A 17 year old high school rugby player who has had a life of playing along to fit in, tells his story about coming of age and coming out in mid-west Detroit. Never knowing the sense of belonging amongst peers, his only outlet for the camaraderie he yearns for is his rugby team, although it is as unfulfilling as the opposite sex he’s expected to be attracted to. He knows what he likes but hasn’t found a way to explore it in a world where he doesn’t belong. A revealing chance meeting creates a love interest out of a classmate who shows him the world going on around him on the outskirts: outside of school, outside of practice and inside himself. A hormonal world where being gay means more than liking guys and self discovery can be a harrowing challenge that he is eager to explore, yet completely unprepared for.
