Overview: After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing in 1989, he backpacked Europe with a friend and caught the travel bug. With no meaningful job prospects, he hitchhiked around the U.S. for a while then went back to school to learn to be a high school English teacher. He got a teaching job right out of school in the middle of the year. The job lasted exactly one semester, or until he received his summer pay and realized he actually had money to continue backpacking.

The next stop was Australia, where he hoped to spend six months, working wherever he could, then a few months in New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands. However, his plans changed irrevocably when he met a lovely Swiss woman, Claudia, in Alice Springs. Undoubtedly swept away by his lack of a job or real future, she agreed to allow him to follow her back to Switzerland where, a few months later, she gave up her job to continue traveling with him. Over the next couple years they backpacked the U.S., Eastern Europe and Australia/New Zealand, before marrying and settling in the mountains of Colorado, in a small town called Salida.

Wulf Rome has his army, but the one raised by the Guardian Kasai is far more powerful. His only chance of defeating it lies in taking a terrible risk. He has to secure the ruined fortress of Guardians Watch before Kasai does.

Their homeland destroyed when Kasai killed their god, the Takare survivors flee from the Landsend Plateau. The fiercest warriors Atria has ever known have once again taken up arms, killing Kasai’s soldiers wherever they find them. Only Shakre sees the trap closing on them, but they no longer heed her.

Formed of chaos power from the abyss, the prison kept the Children cut off from LifeSong – the power that flows through all living things – and now that they are free their hunger for it is insatiable.

Every living thing that crosses their path is drained and the areas they pass through become dead zones. Each kill makes them stronger. Even the Shapers cannot stand against them.

As the Children draw closer to Qarath the desperate defenders have to find a way to defeat a foe which cannot be killed.

And all the while the barrier between the world and the abyss grows weaker and weaker…

#5 – Oblivion’s Grasp
The final battle has begun. The enemy is at the gates of Qarath. But the city’s two chief defenders are gone, trapped in the Pente Akka by the fell creature that rules the shadow world. Will they be able to escape before their life energy is drained and used to shred the veil that protects the world from the abyss?

With the doom of the world at hand, Netra must travel into the shattered prison in hopes of finding the key to defeating their immortal enemy. But when she gets there she realizes they’ve all been betrayed. Only a desperate last gamble has any chance of success.
