01. Camilla’s Story: A orphan named Camilla has the birthmark of the Dragon Clan–an intricate design of a dragon flowing from her hip to the ugly head peering over her shoulder. She knows enough to conceal it from all, but not why. When dragons fly nearby the design on her back tingles and stings. She’s told that one day she will call down dragons–whatever that means, but first she must avoid the assassins sent by the king. He has already murdered her family and she must escape and find sanctuary. However her powers with dragons will eventually make the king tremble in fear and she will have her revenge.
02. Raymer’s Story: Raymer, a member of the Raging Mountain family, has been locked in King Ember’s Summer Palace dungeon for a year. His only crime is being born of the Dragon Clan. The cell next to him holds an emissary of a rival kingdom, an irreverent giant of a man named Quint. Together they plan a daring escape, but once free they find that only the two of them can prevent a war and save innocent lives. Raymer learns of some of the special abilities he has with dragons and must use those abilities to control a dragon and prevent a war while also protecting the secrets of the Dragon Clan.
03. Fleet’s Story: The family elders select the young man knows as Fleet to seek out the unknown bonded dragon-master who helped Raymer escape the dungeons in the last book. His pride and eagerness is tempered when they assign Camilla, the girl in the first book of the series, to travel with him. Together they will enter the drylands and attempt to locate another family. What they find is much more–and may change the entire Dragon Clan forever.
04. Gray’s Story: Gray is dispatched to the port of Fleming to investigate the appearance of green dragons. Stinson, his nemesis since childhood, is assigned to accompany him into the drylands and beyond. Their partnership ends quickly, but Gray discovers information in Fleming that changes everything. His actions can change everything and upset the delicate balance of power, and end a truce.
05. Tanner’s Story: Tanner and a bonded dragon master named Carrion set out to discover more about the invasion of the green dragons and the people behind it. They find another pair of Dragon Clan already seeking the same information and decide to follow them and provide help where they can, without letting the others know. The plan works well until those they follow sail away. There are no more ships, but that cannot stop them. A whole town must be destroyed and another way found to get to Breslau where the Royals are building five fleets for crossing the Endless Sea. The secrets Tanner and Carrion discover reveal more about the coming war than even King Ember can ignore.
06. Anna’s Story: Anna, the fast-talking clever girl from Gray’s Story, hears of what Tanner and Carrion found across the Endless Sea. She understands war is coming, but she knows she can help her people. Her idea is to sail to the land of Breslau and gather information to help win the war, but she needs help. Perhaps Raymer, who was bonded with a red dragon in the second book will go with her. Perhaps she can prevent a war–or start one.
07. Shell’s Story: Shell has heard the night whispers of a dragon calling to him for a year before he leaves his home in the grasslands. His goals are to help with the war effort, and to find a wife, perhaps even Camilla. On his journey, he meets another traveler and their plans change. The arrival of a red dragon changes them even more, but Shell must do what is right. At Fleming, he finds he missed the ship sailing to Breslau with the other Dragon Clan aboard—but that cannot stop him. He devises a new plan and plunges ahead.
