Yancey is a thirty year old kingdom war veteran who was born with a rare ability: Able to summon beasts and entities. The kingdom has never looked favorably upon those who have such talents and when Yancey reached thirteen years of age he ran off to join the kingdom army and practice his rare talent in secret as he fought the invaders brought forth by the Blood Whisper Black Mages of a decade ago. When the Darkling War was ended Yancey found himself a new way to continue his training and living. He became a Guild Merchanter & Adventurer and explored the dungeons the Blood Whispers had magically opened to call forth their evil soldiers of conquest who are long defeated and their darklings thought to have been vanquished close to a decade ago are now raiding the Kingdom of Alba, again. Can Yancey reach the level in his ‘Useless Talent’ to become the noble he was born to be or have to deal with the continued harassment thrown upon him by the noble peers and parents of his youth?
#2 – Slayer of Darkness
Yancey has made his way from a lesser untalented & unwanted mage to the status of a noble of the kingdom that had looked down its nose at him. He has proven himself a hero and a person of virtue that even washed out wounded war veterans would return to the kingdoms service if he asked them to. Now that he has been awarded the southern region of the kingdom of Alba, the noble social elites are looking to bring him back into the fold of their circle. But Yancey has one thing the nobles don’t have. Options, and he isn’t above using them.
