Safe Zone(Feb 17, 2015)
Shaun and Megan lived in the outskirts of a small town near Latrobe, Pennsylvania. They ignored the news coverage of an outbreak in Africa. Africa was always having outbreaks of some sort of disease. When the networks began to report incidents taking place in Europe, they ignored the reports as another effort by the networks to sensationalize the news and make something out of nothing. They started to take the reports more seriously when outbreaks started to occur in New York and Pittsburgh. But by then, it was too late. Within days, the dead were everywhere. It was impossible to go into Latrobe, or any other of the towns or cities. At least it was impossible if you wanted to live. Shaun and Megan’s life changed. Each day was a struggle to avoid the dead, to find food and to just survive. The living began to disappear as the hordes of the dead grew. Other than their friends, Doug and Lisa, who were struggling to survive nearby, they were on their own in a world ruled by the dead. One day, when Shaun and Megan were out trying to find supplies, they saw a man and his family being attacked by the dead. Shaun and Megan felt obligated to help another living human. There were so few of them left. The man told them he was passing through, trying to take his family to a nearby town where he heard other living people had gathered and formed a Safe Zone. The people in the town had secured an area that was safe from the dead. Not only was it safe, but they had begun to push the dead out of the town and reclaim their lives. They operated a farm that supplied everyone with food. Shaun and Megan talked to their friends, Doug and Lisa, about the Safe Zone they had heard about. They debated whether or not they should try to go there. It was getting harder each day to just get by and they didn’t know how much longer they were going to be able to survive. The Safe Zone they had heard about could just be a rumor repeated by a desperate man trying to save his family. Before they could decide what to do, the decision was made for them. What food and shelter they had was destroyed and taken from them. They had barely managed to escape with their lives. In an effort to survive, they set out to make the journey in the hope of finding a place safe from the dead. A place with other people like themselves where they could rebuild a life and wake up from the nightmare they had been living. They journey was terrifying, but they finally arrived at their destination. What they found was amazing. It was everything they had been told and more. Unfortunately, much more!
Alone (May 30, 2015)
One year and one day ago, Tony was living a normal life in his home town of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. A normal life in Uniontown, a town about forty-five miles southeast of Pittsburgh and fifteen miles north of the West Virginia border, was a simple and quiet life. It consisted of rooting for the Steeler’s football team in the fall and winter, tolerating the Pirate’s baseball team during the summer and hanging out with the guys. One year ago, that all changed. Within days, the residents of Uniontown had become infected, died and then unbelievably came back to life. More accurately, the dead began to rise and attack the living. Other than the fact they moved, little else about the dead resembled life in any way. Within days, Tony saw his family, one by one, become infected and die. A nightmare that was only beginning. Tony escaped and found some of his friends that had also managed to survive. They banded together to try and survive the relentless pursuit of the dead, the snow and cold of the approaching Pennsylvania winter and to find enough food to keep from starving to death. By spring, Tony was the only one of his group that was still alive. He witnessed his friends die over the cold winter months. Their lives were claimed by the cold, by disease, by accidents and by the dead. One year later, Tony finds himself alone and barricaded in an old warehouse surrounded by the dead. He is desperately trying to find a way to survive and cling to his hope of one day finding another living being. Over the next week, Tony will have to rely on all of his knowledge and experience to survive as he confronts his hopes and his worst nightmares.
Survivors in a Dead World (Feb 29, 2016)
The zombie apocalypse started one year ago and for all intents and purposes, it had also ended one year ago. It was over by the time anyone had realized it had even started. What remained now was little more than a dead world. Most of the cities and towns still stood and the streets were buzzing with activity, but what was missing was the living. There were small groups of the living that hid among the dark decaying buildings that once made up the cities. But the cities, along with everywhere else now belonged to the dead. The groups of the living that remained were small and were getting smaller with each passing day. Soon the dead would have the world all to themselves. But the few that had managed to survive continued to struggle and live. Why??? Even they didn’t know. Maybe it was because another day in hell was better than the alternative. Carrie Jenkins, a young attractive redhead and the traffic reporter for WTAE TV in Pittsburgh had always felt she was just another pretty face in a man’s world. When the apocalypse came, a pretty face in a man’s world took on a whole new meaning. After a narrow escape from the dead, she found herself hiding in the old abandoned Mercy Hospital building in Pittsburgh. She also found herself there, surrounded by nine men. Some things will never change,” she thought. After his parents had disappeared, Jim found himself hiding in of all places, his old elementary school. He had not had a pleasant experience in elementary school. Every room in the school held another unhappy memory. He had just graduated from high school and had hoped to never set foot in a school again. Now he was back at his old elementary school surrounded by a dead town crawling with the dead. With his food running out, he had to make a decision. To make things even harder, his two younger sisters were with him, sixteen year old Debbie and six year old Monica. It became even harder when Jim thought he would have to decide which of his sisters would live and which one would die. Ricki and his brother Denny survived the first wave of the dead, only to find themselves locked up in the Fairfield Community Center with a group of lunatics. They had to find a way to escape the dead, but first they had to escape from the lunatics. Their chances of doing either were not very good.
Now It Begins (Apr 19, 2016)
When Dave Kelly graduated from college, he decided to leave the family farm in Ohio and make his own way in the world. Dave accepted a job in Starke, Florida. He took Maggie, his zombie book fanatic wife, his three year old son Joey and moved to Florida. The job didn’t pan out as expected. During the last two years Dave and his family struggled to eat and pay the bills. They thought things couldn’t get any worse. They couldn’t have been more wrong. When a fantastic job opportunity presented itself, Dave and Maggie couldn’t believe their luck. They felt that their lives had finally changed. They were right. Their luck had finally changed, but it wasn’t what they were expecting. They soon realized that their bad luck had changed for the worse. Dave and Maggie found themselves living in a world more terrifying than anything in any of Maggie’s books. Their biggest problem now was trying to stay alive.
The Cure (July 12, 2016)
Winfield Junction was a town where nothing ever happened. It was a small isolated community out in the countryside northwest of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a few miles off of Interstate Route 28. No one paid much attention to the small community and Winfield Junction paid little attention to what was going on in the outside world. When strange things started to occur around Winfield Junction, it took them all by surprise. The zombie apocalypse had begun, causing the power and all forms of communication to go out. The residents of Winfield Junction had no idea what was going on and they would never find out what had happened. A large horde of the dead hit the town in the middle of the night. By morning, except for two people, all the other residents of Winfield Junction were dead. Three days later, when the last two remaining Winfield Junction residents finally ventured out of their basement to look for help, they couldn’t believe what had happened to their town. They soon found themselves again running for their lives. A car load of survivors from the neighboring town of Freeport, fleeing the dead out on the interstate, arrived in Winfield Junction just in time to help them escape a gruesome fate. The Freeport survivors were on their way to Kittanning in a desperate attempt to find a safe haven from the dead. They took the Winfield Junction survivors with them. The last two Winfield Junction residents however had a secret, a secret that if the others found out, could make being with the Freeport survivors more dangerous than the zombies they had just escaped. Their lives had just been turned upside down, but that was only the start of what was to come. In Kittanning, Doctor Diane Wyatt struggled to make sense out of what had happened. She made a startling discovery that presented her with an opportunity that mankind might never see again. Diane’s father, former Navy Commander John Wyatt, was doing his best to keep their small group from being overrun by the dead. But against such overwhelming odds, one nagging question hung over their heads as they struggled against the dead. Was it even possible for anyone to survive?
